I bought that book, and I think it should be required reading in every school sociology class. Religious dogma should never trump real and important social issues.
However controversial.
Racial integration is STILL an American Dilemma. Lessened by not only inclusion of the accomplishments and contributions of people of color, but social integration in otherwise discriminatory institutions.
I don’t care about the resistance to addressing what goes on among gay youth. We’ve seen that resistance before…
But we can point also to the accomplishments and contributions of gays and lesbians DESPITE social setbacks, and commit to treating this issue as one of EDUCATION, not religious or any kind of negative indoctrination.
Daniel Radcliffe was also happy to appear on the front cover of Attitude last month. He gave an interesting interview.
TRiG.
re: Utah newspaper won’t publish a gay couple’s announcement
A simple announcement is all it is!
Some lame excuse and silly rationale for not printing the ad cannot mask a deep-seated homo-hatred that abounds in this retirement community.
But are we really surprised? This is provincial Utah. Mostly bitter elderly folk who are so indoctrinated they aren’t willing to accept a expression of love.
I have a hunch most of the nurses and attendants at the nursing homes there are gay. If they’re not careful they might alter the blue-hair dye and a lot of the little old ladies could be sporting flamingo-pink hairdos.
