Campaign to Defend the Constitution (DefCon) is a new Washington-based online campaign. The group’s mission:
DefCon is an online grassroots movement combating the growing power of the religious right. We will fight for the separation of church and state, individual freedom, scientific progress, pluralism, and tolerance while respecting people of faith and their beliefs.
Among the advisory board members are:
- Bruce Alberts, former President of the National Academy of Sciences
- Francisco Ayala, former President and Chairman of the American Association for the Advancement of Science
- Ira Glasser, former Executive Director of the American Civil Liberties Union
- Rev. James Lawson, former President of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference
