To my knowledge, exgay activists Alan Chambers, Randy Thomas, and Stephen Bennett — all unabashed supporters of President Bush — have yet to comment on Bush’s vow to continue spying (without authorization or restraint) against American citizens. I also find no comment on Focus on the Family’s web site.
Who are those citizen “terrorists” whom Bush has stalked at taxpayer expense? Specifically, Quaker Christians, the ACLU and Greenpeace and any other U.S. citizen selected at the whim of senior Bush yes-men.
Are there exgay activists, anywhere, who have maintained their integrity and political independence by protesting the runaway cronyism and despotism of the Bush administration? If there are, please let me know.

Addendum: From Bruce Prescott via Jesus Politics:
The silence of Southern Baptist denominational leaders on revelations about this administration’s authorization of pre-emptive war, illegal wiretaps, torture, and lies is deafening. Then again, for the Fundamentalists and Dominionists that took over the SBC, their ends have always justified the means.
Prescott is executive director of Mainstream Oklahoma Baptists and president of the Oklahoma chapter of Americans United for Separation of Church and State.
Had Clinton pulled any of this crap, you’d bet that the ex-gays or any other organization that supports their point of view would have screamed and yelled louder than an air raid siren.
These groups need to remember that if Bush gets away with what he’s doing, precedent will have been set and a liberal president can do the exact same thing with much less blowback.
As far as I’m concerned the primary scandal in this story is the fact the the NYTimes reportedly sat on the story for a year before publishing it. I can easily speculate about why they did so, but that, to me, is the true scandal.
The NYTimes advertises itself as the American “newspaper of record.” Apparently, they are becoming more of the “oldspaper of record” sitting on a story for a year before publishing it. Or the newspaper of fiction–witness the recent scandals regarding Jayson Blair and Judith Miller.

I agree 100%. Instead of simply reporting the news, once again they injected themselves as part of the story. The Times has some serious ‘splainin’ to do.
