On September 15, gay author and activist Wayne Besen accused the Norfolk, Va., Virginian-Pilot of suppressing disturbing news about Michael Johnston (an exgay with AIDS who was accused of having unsafe sex orgies) and later publishing a bland promotional feature about ex-gays instead.
In a column today for Outlet Radio, Besen offers an extensive chronology of the Michael Johnston scandal and the Virginian-Pilot’s persistent refusal to provide its readers with unpopular truths about exgays — and gay Virginians.
Besen also has a new website, waynebesen.com, featuring recent columns and information about his book, Anything But Straight.
