I’m glad to know one of your friends who considers himself ex-gay recognizes that he is also vulnerable to discrimination for being perceived as gay (as are many heterosexuals) and that he supports anti-discrimination policies/laws.
These voices are absent among leaders of the ex-gay movement, if they exist. I only hear about them from non-leaders.
The same should have been true for sodomy laws criminalizing consensual private acts between adults as well. So many prominent figures and supporters of the ex-gay movement supported keeping Lawrence vs. Texas in place, despite the reality that so many ex-gays have admitted engaging in sexual activity with a person of the same sex after they became involved in ex-gay ministry.
