Exgay activist Stephen Bennett, like a number of feminists and conservatives, would like to rid the television airwaves of pornography.
Of course, Bennett defines pornography differently from your average Andrea Dworkin or Betty Friedan.
From the American Family Association/Agape Press release protesting gay couples’ civil unions in Connecticut:
Bennett observes with marked exasperation that, in today’s pro-homosexual mainstream culture, one “can’t even watch the Home and Garden Network” without running into pro-homosexual affirmation. Nowadays, he says, even the once innocuous home improvement reality shows “feature gay and lesbian couples, where they come in and make over their homes.”

Does Mr. Bennett not own a remote control? He can easily change the station if he is that offended by families who are not a carbon copy of his fake family .
Well, it’s nice to see at least one “pro-family” leader acknowledge that “pro-homosexual affirmation” in their vernacular really means “showing that gay people exist.”
I bet his biggest beef is that these gay subjects are healthy, in committed relationships and have healthy children they have cared for brilliantly.
And since it’s reality tv, he can’t criticize the fiction of such a gay family existing.
“Clean House” featured a lesbian couple with two young boys they’d adopted. One of the boys was autistic and was progressing as he grew because these women were professionals in special ed and child psychology. High income, just messy.
The boys were of Latino background, the two women were white and had been together for over twenty years.
Most of my friends who are gay parents, have adopted children across all kinds of color and culture lines.
The real situation I find, is that these kids are so accepting and affectionate that our differences blur and blend so easily.
I’m ‘Auntie Regan’ to so many of these fast growing young folks, I’m very proud to have that honor.
I see what I see, I know what I know.
I have noticed that the ex gays who have posted pics of their families, are nuclear…mostly socially inbred and lack diversity.
This is also true of the anti gay marriage crowd.
Obviously, they are not so generous to children in need of adoption as their gay peers are.
If one of their children’s gay disposition comes up in their family, that youngster is in for a world of hurt.
Whereas, in the gay parent homes, no such problems are likely to occur and those parents are not going to try to unrealistically discipline their kid for or from being gay.
And they will accept their straight kids and the siblings won’t be set on one another for being different in that regard.
Affirmation of differences in culture, physical disability, color and religious belief in a single home…according to the Stephen Bennetts of this world…this is a bad thing?
He has so little charity for gay headed homes?
How deeply selfish in the worst way. So much for the ‘Christian’ aspect of his charity…
Such a big religion, but full of such small people.
It’s not only HGTV, you also have to look out for Animal Planet, apparently.
