An unknown intruder fatally shot 39-year-old gay journalist Josh Kruger at his home in Philadelphia early Monday morning. Kruger had apparently been the victim of harassment and minor vandalism some weeks before. It is unknown if any of this is related to the attack that caused his death. He was shot seven times in the chest and abdomen and died about an hour later in the hospital.
Kruger had worked for a number of publications, including LGBTQ Nation, The Philadelphia Citizen, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and others. He had a particular affinity for the homeless, having been homeless himself at one point. From all accounts he was a hard working writer who was passionate about the subjects of his writing.
