Anti-gay activist often claim to “love the sinner, hate the sin”. A recent example is Guy Adams of Renew America who (in the midst of a string of evil and false accusations) said on Stacy Harp’s podcast

…we don’t hate the gays mind you, we don’t hate them, we hate what they’re doing…

Joe Brummer challenged Adams’ lies and, it would appear, made him angry. Adams blasted a stream of emails to Joe (available here) in which his definition of “we don’t hate” becomes much more clear:

Whether I reach gays or not is not that important to me. Yes, I hope that God is able to reach them, but at the end of the day, I have been placed at war with your likes, and that was YOUR choice.

In other words, I declare war against you and your kind.

and

YOU brought this war to me and I will finish it. And there are many, many more like me too.

and

WHO ARE YOU? WHAT’S YOUR NAME?

In the course of a few short months, no one will want to mention your name out of sheer fear.

[snip]

The war is on. As Reagan said: We win, you lose.

Understand that quite well, because in a true war (unlike Iraq), all means available to me will be used.

You targeted the wrong guy, but I thank God that you did.

I’m not sure what that means but it is clearly a threat.

These rants on Adams’ part show a mind and spirit full of hatred. There is no love for anyone, sinner or not, in Adams’ threats and warmongering. And due to Adams and others like him, another teenager will take a baseball bat and set out to “finish the war”.
