Not content with its injection of partisan politics and religious bias into Alaska marriages, Focus on the Family is campaigning to add job-benefit discrimination against gay employees and their families to the state’s constitution.
And it’s waging this campaign with the same automated phone-dialing computers that telemarketing scammers have used for years to interrupt American families’ dinner hour:
From the Associated Press via Advocate.com:
A conservative Christian group has entered the battle in Alaska over employment benefits for partners of gay people. The Colorado-based Focus on the Family is using an automated phone system to ask whether people support or oppose a proposed amendment to the state constitution that would nullify a court decision ordering Alaska to pay such benefits.
Those who support the amendment are encouraged to call their representatives.
Those who oppose the amendment get stuck with a broken autodialer that won’t release their phone line. (OK, bad joke.)
James Dobson is a blight on humanity. He is a sick, self-serving sycofant who cares nothing about anyone but himself and his own agenda. I hope he just keeps getting sicker and sicker until the American people wake up and realize what a psychotic loser he is. He has far too much money and it is his radio listening audience who keep forking out their hard-earned cash to support this creep. If anyone knows someone who listens to his broadcast they need to talk with them about an alternative. We need to get Dobson off of the airways because his message of hate is heard by approximately 130 million listeners worldwide.
“Those who oppose the amendment get stuck with a broken autodialer that won’t release their phone line.”
I’m confused. Is this a joke or do they actually have their phone lines tied up? I hadn’t seen that in the news reports.
I was joking.
If I have to explain that, then the joke isn’t very funny. I’ll change it.
