From an Associated Press story:
Apparently unprompted by activists, the county clerk in Sandoval County, N.M., said she will issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, saying she could find no reason not to. [Postscript: State officials later stepped in and stopped the issuances.]
And in Cambodia, according to the BBC, King Sihanouk decided that gay marriages would be permitted.
Here, in French, is what I’m told is Sihanouk’s declaration.
Hi. I’m French speaking.
Prince Sihanouk did not say gay marriages _would_ be permitted in Cambodia, he said they _should_ be allowed.
As a King he “reigns but doesn’t govern”, by Cambodian Constitution.
Alas, I have doubts the topic will ever been officially raised in this country, one of Earth’s poorest, soon.
