One wonders why so many of these ex-gay creeps start these christian “ministries.” Can’t they get honest jobs? Why do they apparently feel it necessary to suck off the christians? And bash gay people.

What a great article, Natalie. I read your article “The Other Side of the Rainbow” several months ago as well. Um, maybe YOU should write a book on ex-gay ministries?!?
Best.

I had long considered doing so (and have a lot of research to prove it), but Wayne Besen beat me to the punch. Given our mutual antipathy, I think it is best, at least for the time being, that I stay out of what has become “his” issue. Thanks for your kind thoughts, Brett. Natalie Davis • 8/11/03; 3:45:27 PM
Natalie, this issue is crying out for a sensible pro-gay response, not just gleeful hammering away for the sake of hammering away. I’m sorry there’s antipathy between you and Wayne (though I understand why), but please don’t let him make your decisions for you. Yours would be better by far.
If there is a market to sustain a catalogue of “ex-gay” literature surely the rest of us can support two books – even if the authors don’t get along. Plus, a more tempered response would be great counterpoint to Besen’s more sensationlist tone.
I’d be first in line to buy yours, Natalie. Provided Jayelle doesn’t beat me to it.
Best.

Depends on whether there is a market for one. That remains to be seen.
Thanks for the nice words, you two. Natalie Davis • 8/12/03; 2:02:24 PM

This is *great*, Mike! As soon as I can afford it, I am planning to go Type Pad or Movable Type too. (Blogger bites.)
Congrats; it looks wonderful.
By the way, my site has moved from Typepad to Movable Type, so there is a new URL for this piece:
