Colorado Christian and Jewish clergy members condemned Colorado’s ban on gay marriage.
The clergy will battle an effort led by Colorado U.S. Rep. Marilyn Musgrave to mangle states’ and churches’ rights with a Constitutional amendment making gay marriages and domestic partnerships illegal in all states.
Musgrave and her supporters in Focus on the Family misidentify amendment opponents as “homosexual activists.” Musgrave adds, “Today’s meeting by the very liberal clergy only strengthens my resolve to protect marriage” by making church marriages illegal when they are not performed in accord with the religious right.
Colorado State Rep. Shawn Mitchell excuses interracial marriage from scrutiny, saying racial biology and identity are of little consequence compared to “gender differences,” which seems to assume gender roles dating to the 1950s.
