From the Mike Haley video:
Michael Lambelet of Campus Crusade for Christ:
Well Michael, as long as it’s not just about hate.
“… saying it bridges the gap between homosexuality and Christianity.” I thought the ex-gay agenda is to perpetuate that homosexuality and Christianity is not compatible?
Wow on the AFA! So what they really want is for corporations not to sell things to LGBT people? Am I getting that right? They’re not even TRYING to veil that bigotry. Haha.
Michael Lambelet of Campus Crusade for Christ:
Oh good, love and hate. At least it’s balanced. “I hate you but I also love you, so they balance out.”
Since it doesn’t have ‘also’ in between ‘it’s’ and ‘a’, i will just believe he meant thats its a message of love and not of hate. The ‘just’ just inadvertently slided through.
Nice point, Yuki. I’m quite offended by people claiming ex-gays are a bridge between Christians and gays. How is someone that is completely against homosexuality, often perpetuating myths about homosexuality, any type of bridge?
Joel said:
Quite the point. Why was the word “just” even there to just slide through?
Sorry guys, this got me going. I did discover some good stuff though.
From Mike Haley’s book:
Mike Haley then cites the McWhirter and Mattison book; The Male Couple, no doubt for the express purpose of being able to type the words: “Not a single couple living together more than five years was able to sustain a monogamous relationship.”
However, as Holy Bullies and Headless Monsters so eloquently points out:
What’s that you say? You don’t cheat on your partner? Not according to Mike Haley’s hackneyed use of another study:
Ah, yes. The famed “Dutch Study.” As Box Turtle Bulletin notes (emphasis in original):
So Mike Haley, what was your Hastings College message again?
Oh that’s right, you poor thing indeed. You just want to be allowed the same rights as everyone else.
What about lesbian women? We’re the MOST monogamous according to stereotypes, and the LEAST diseased. We’re also the least likely to get AIDS – and, according to the Center for Disease Control, there has not been a recorded case of HIV transmission from women who are exclusively lesbian.
So what’s the problem with us LESBIANS???
Sadly Emily, that is exactly the issue. They had always called themselves the ex-GAY ministry, NOT ex-HOMO ministry. Our dear lesbian sisters and transgenders are just sucked into the GAY label. It has always been their intolerant dirty thoughts of men having anal. Mind you lesbian sex is prominent additions in heterosexual porn. They do not really mind lesbians. Hetero men find it sexy. But after they had been educated that lesbians also are homosexuals, hey had to lump these girls in. Then after they realise they made a second mistake by calling homosexuals as having “gender identity disorder”, that is when they conveniently dragged transgenders into it. But that was the fallacy. It has always been about GAYS. Lesbians and transgenders are just collateral damages in their education to the general public of how they cannot stand men and men having sex, when all these while at the first place they never bothered to ask gays whether they really only have sex in their minds. And ironically, not one ex-gay was asked about their sex life when were “still gays” too. All we are hearing from ex-gays were how they were sexually abused and believe homosexuality is evil because some pastor or priest enlightened them of the “evils of homosexuality. It is unfortunate that they decided to include us as “evils” as well for no other reason for the convenience of ex-gays’ own reasoning.
From hearsay from ex-gays and others i will point out that, as far as lesbianism is concerned, I’ve heard more than just a few times about sexual fluidity. What does that mean.. im not sure, but it comes up everytime someone infers that lesbianism dotn suffer from sexual diseases.
Maybe im missing something but, pretty sure gays/atheist accept your vow to gay-celibacy… just as long as you dont generalize your testimony to MUST apply to the rest in your ‘EMBRACE US but stop de gaiz’ speech. Kinda like a gay standing up and saying that you CANT change your behaviour and your stucked to having a gay relationship for the rest of your life. If you want ppl to respect your testimony and not dismiss it as pure ‘fighting for the cause’, then respect the rest. Im sure you know of gays that have experience long lasting relationships, and happy at that.
If what you mean by allowance is something legal… then ex-gays can already marry. Nor do you need any ‘special rights’. I don’t see anyone attacking you because of that, unless of course, you blather unconsciously(DA HOLY SPIRIT, Amen anyone?) and provoke them.
(SPOILER UP AHEAD)Adam and Steve(the movie) made me laugh… specially that part where they kiss in the public park and all the mothers rushed in to censor the childrens eyes, so they didnt see the ‘atrocity’ LOL…
Also.. I just noticed that the AFA petition had the word agenda or lifestyle in each of the first five sentences. And its 7 sentences long… i srsly beleive they used lifestyle/agenda instead of network in the seventh line but then figured it was a tad too overstated. I hope GM doesnt succumb to these ppl like CBS did with their daylight gay couple kissing ban, then again… they aren’t the exact same thing.
No wonder everyone who supports AFA will almost subconciously say lifestyle or agenda. Is this the, ‘if you repeat it long enough ppl will start believing in it’.
Yuki – a good insight about the “gay” in “ex-gay”. While Exodus says explicitly that trans people aren’t gay and that Exodus can’t help them, Alan Chambers and Randy Thomas consistently make appearances as trans experts. Whenever they say something about trans people, I’m convinced they just replace “gay” with “trans” from their normal spiel.
Precisely Ephilei. All the talk of people being sexually abused or come from broken homes and “causes” people to become gays… and lesbians and transgenders… heck, people seem to become straights that way too! In fact, I know very few gays that came from such conditions, but I know a lot of straights that gone through those hard lives. Just a cheeky thought; if that is the case, perhaps there is no such thing as heterosexuality, that people just became heteros because their parents are either drunkards or mentally disableds? Just think about it!
