Welcome to a new regular feature, the XGW Digest. There are always links, stories and snippets of news that go under the radar, not warranting a full article, and yet worth noting. Here we’ll update readers once or twice a week with those stories and links of interest and relevance to the ex-gay movement.
Today:
– Focus on the Family misrepresents the consensus among anthropologists on the definition of “traditional marriage” (H/T Good As You). Sure a consensus exists – but it’s not what the Religious Right wants it to be. Over at Box Turtle Bulletin, anthropologists Bill Mauer and Patrick M Chapman respond.
– A progressive Catholic response to NARTH: Part I & Part II
– John Corvino of Independent Gay Forum chimes in with his thoughts on the ex-gay movement
Great job on the digest. At first I wasn’t quite sure what the idea was about, but now I totally get it and I think it’s awesome.
I love how well the author states his argument about pathology and homosexuality in Part 1 of a “Catholic Response To NARTH.”
Very simply put, and an excellent point. Why do those at NARTH, and like-minded individuals, seem to reject this idea?
