Brian Murphy, a Soulforce Equality Rider, attended the Ex-Gay Survivor Conference that was co-sponsored by Soulforce, Beyond Ex-Gay and the LGBT Resource Center at the University of California-Irvine.
Murphy, a filmmaker, interviewed fellow attendees and taped footage of various conference activities including the Chalk Talk, a time of written expression and reflection.

This is a very moving video. I found myself choked up a few times, especially the Chalk Talk section.
Awesome! Support like this in my region would be incredible! There are many in the Texas area that could benefit and continue healing.
Thanks for posting this Mike.
Hey, hanging with XGW is one of THE best things I could have done. I love, love, LOVE you my friends and you KNOW who you are!
You have taught me so much. I was among some very religious ladies yesterday. Just happened to be black women I was working with.
And sometimes our conversations came around to gay folks.
One of the women said that although the Bible SAYS what it does about lying with the same sex as with the opposite sex, you STILL don’t turn away the folks who do, or judge them, LIE to them, lie ABOUT them…or never love them.
She said, ‘I’m all about loving someone and ESPECIALLY listening. You’ll never know if you don’t listen to gay people.’
She agreed with me, on folks have to receive and recognize too, when they are being loved BY gay folks.
She validated what I was taught and what I’ve always believed.
Love WILL do it for us all.
BTW, this was a sister who had been sexually abused, and she has become foster mother to another abused girl, abused by her own father in a horrible way.
Now, THERE is a woman who knows that ANY abuse, even BY the Bible isn’t The Way, either.
You would have really like her people, of that I’m sure.
I didn’t get to partake of as much as the conference as I would have liked. But of what I did, I was impressed and proud.
I am very inept on spreading the Gospel.
But love?
Hey….want some? Plenty MORE where it came from!
That’s not inept, that’s the way to do it 😉
I was so delighted to find this site! Finally some gospel to me too! I have suffered up today under this ex-gay message and have failed to change. It was so refreshing to listen to others who have been involwed in ex-gay ministries as clients and have survived.
Welcome to the club Antti. Pull up a chair, get comfy and read some more. I especially loved when grantdale (on another good thread) said:
You can learn a lot of good things here on XGW.
