Setting up for the press conference the day before Love Won Out. I don’t have any pics during the event since all the speakers were seated next to the mic stand. But NBC ran a snippet of my testimony so that kind of makes up for not being able to take pics myself.
Most protesters arrived around 10am after Love Won Out attendees had already arrived so things were slow till they broke for lunch and quite a few people left for lunch. Oh and that’s my “Caution: Junk Science Ahead” sign being held for me while I ran around taking photos.
People on the church grounds leaving for lunch resulted in renewed sign-waving and chanting. We must have gotten pretty annoying because a guy who lives across from the church set up his stereo on his front lawn to presumably try and drown us out. I have a feeling conference attendees still heard me yell out “Exodus bears false witness.”
Most protesters were doing a good job of staying on-message.
Our numbers topped out around 55.
And there was media to talk to, and hand out Ex-gay Watch press releases to.
We talked to all four local networks but Fox’s broadcast was the only one I caught before we went to dinner.
