Anti-gay activist often claim to “love the sinner, hate the sin”. A recent example is Guy Adams of Renew America who (in the midst of a string of evil and false accusations) said on Stacy Harp’s podcast
…we don’t hate the gays mind you, we don’t hate them, we hate what they’re doing…
Joe Brummer challenged Adams’ lies and, it would appear, made him angry. Adams blasted a stream of emails to Joe (available here) in which his definition of “we don’t hate” becomes much more clear:
Whether I reach gays or not is not that important to me. Yes, I hope that God is able to reach them, but at the end of the day, I have been placed at war with your likes, and that was YOUR choice.
In other words, I declare war against you and your kind.
and
YOU brought this war to me and I will finish it. And there are many, many more like me too.
and
WHO ARE YOU? WHAT’S YOUR NAME?
In the course of a few short months, no one will want to mention your name out of sheer fear.
[snip]The war is on. As Reagan said: We win, you lose.
Understand that quite well, because in a true war (unlike Iraq), all means available to me will be used.
You targeted the wrong guy, but I thank God that you did.
I’m not sure what that means but it is clearly a threat.
These rants on Adams’ part show a mind and spirit full of hatred. There is no love for anyone, sinner or not, in Adams’ threats and warmongering. And due to Adams and others like him, another teenager will take a baseball bat and set out to “finish the war”.
I chopped the tree down.
I split the logs.
I piled them up.
I placed a stake in the middle.
I captured you.
I tied you to that stake.
I soaked the lot in gasoline.
I told everyone you were a witch.
And I was sooooo horrified when someone turned up with a match.
Jesus ate with publicans and sinners. Somehow, I doubt Guy Adams will eat any meals soon with any LGBT people he considers sinners — That “[w]hether I reach gays or not is not that important to me” line seems a significant indicator that he wouldn’t consider engaging LGBT people in any kind of Christ-like manner.
Guy Adams is one guy I definately wouldn’t want to meet in a dark alley. The fellow strikes me as showing a level of paranoia that really puts fear in me considering this guy is supposed to be a police officer. The fact that he’ll make threats over the internet shows a distinct lack of judgement for his actions, and possibly a lack of understanding of the law.
At the very least, the district he represents probably would not want statements like this representing them.
Mr. Adams is nothing but a heretic, at least according to the nuns and priests who taught me the true religion of Christianity [/end sarcasm}.
But seriously, doesn’t Mr. Adams realize that his religious beliefs, whatever they are, are anathema to other religions? Doesn’t he realize that there are people out there, of the Islamic, the Judaic, and even the Christian faith, however it is defined, who believe he is living an immoral lifestyle choice that is equally as horrible as being gay – namely a lifestyle based on the sins of heresy and blasphemy? And if he does know that such people exist, does he not want them to treat him with basic respect – an understanding that he is an adult human being, able to make his own choices, and therefore with the Constitutional right to be completely wrong with his lifestyle choices?
Apparently not, or he would follow the words of the rabbi, Jesus of Nazareth, and “do unto others as he would have done unto him.”
This guy’s bio says he’s a law enforcement officer. Is there any way to find out if he’s an actual active-duty officer somewhere? That last email is clearly a threat. Someone like this should definitely not be carrying a gun.
Illinois Anti-Gay Activist Says Gays Having Sex with Infants Is New ‘Trend’ in Chicago; ‘New Low In Gay Bashing,’ Says TWO
MIAMI BEACH, Fla., Aug. 3 /U.S. Newswire/ — Truth Wins Out today called on Renew America’s Chairman Alan Keyes to dismiss Guy Adams, the group’s deputy national grassroots director, after he made hateful and defamatory remarks against the gay and lesbian community on an Internet radio show. Adams’ comments linking homosexuality with infant pedophilia reached “a deplorable new low in gay bashing,” said TWO’s Executive Director Wayne Besen.
Rattling the cages….
Boo, here’s a link to the agency that certifies law enforcement personnel in Illinois. https://www.ptb.state.il.us/. Keep in mind, though, that the primary purpose of the agency is to let law enforcement agencies know who is certified, not the general public.
Gay Blog HellMy very brief encounter with Joe Brummer’s gay BLOGGuy Adamsrenewamerica.usJuly 29, 2006Excerpt:
Outlet Radio idetified Adams (January 12, 2005) as follows:
The Outlet Radio webpage has as a picture of Adams in police uniform, so it’s definitely the same person. Contact information for the Cook County (IL) Sheriff’s Police Department is here (email) and here (telephone).
So Joe, if you’re reading this, YOU NEED TO FORWARD THOSE EMAILS to the proper authorities. The guy threatened your life. As a professional I know not to diagnose someone from a few emails, but there’s a good chance this guy is actively psychotic. At the very least he needs an evaluation.
Of course, the irony is that such attackers reveal a great deal more about themselves than those they wish to impugn.
If Guy Adams is a Police Officer, it does not sit well with his department, and departments with proper ethics would have charged him administratively, as well as possible dismissal if what all these postings are saying is true.
Autumn, GOOD WORK!!!
Joe, I pray safety and protection for you. Thank you for your work in uncovering this. You may literally save a life.
Grant, you said it better than I could.
