In October 1998, Saturday Night Live‘s animated TV Funhouse skit invented an exgay superhero. Watch the video:
Heteroy has real-world counterparts: LiveJournal blogger Keith recently discovered Bibleman while standing in line at the register at Half Price Books.
Bibleman is available as a video series and in a set of nifty action figures. These supposedly Christian heroes use light sabers and other weaponry to kill atheists and other presumed non-believers.
Hat tip for Heteroy: Locusts and Honey. Video posted to YouTube by subzero2o.
Haha! That was great.
I adore satire. Really what happens in the scenes- the gays get zapped to conform to the heteronomative patterns of the world.
Ah, but just becuase you can wear the suit and do the sports doesn’t change desire–it only opens doors, ever so slightly, to the privilege straight men enjoy in Conservative protestant churches.
