The American Family Association is rallying consumers to think twice before their next shopping trip, and then write letters to Wal-Mart demanding that the retailer discriminate against its gay employees.
(And, in the same AFA news briefing, PFOX complains that the National PTA keeps rejecting the antigay parent group’s efforts to put scientifically unbalanced literature on exhibit at PTA conventions. PFLAG won the National PTA’s favor with its opposition to bullying; PFOX opposes antibullying programs.)
these threats are disingenuous for now. Why do I say this? Well the news brief roundup page on the agapepress is about as low on the radar as you can get. I subscribe to AFA’s “One Million Dads/Moms” activism alert system and so far they haven’t even mentioned Wal-Mart to those members. If the AFA decides to move on this one, trust me, we’ll hear it.
hmm… Target is kinda GAY. They got an 86 from HRC on how well they pander to gay employees. And let’s not forget how you can totally gay-out the name Target by pronouncing the French way, Targé.
Face it, Target is too gay for the AFA.
True, but nobody would visit this page if it were headlined “…or We’ll Shop at Kmart.”
Face it, the irony of AFA’ers shopping at Target is irresistible.
Maybe we should start shopping at the Walmart that just opened in Framingham MA.
No, I don’t believe we’ll be going there any time soon.
We won’t be going to Target, either.
CompUSA, maybe.
I’m not exactly how to do it, but some people who do the “Target” thing over audio do something that sounds like “tar-jay” It’s cute over audio. But does anyone want to enlighten me about how to do it over text?
Raj, Targé
I live in LA and we gay boys love our new West Hollywood Target. We don’t have to drive all the way out to Ikea to see cute gay couples shopping.
