Van Gower of Southern Voice reviews the new novel “Sex Camp” by Brian McNaught.
Of the many compelling characters, the writer struggled most to fairly flesh out the character of Peter O’Shea, a self-identified ex-gay Lutheran Church worker.
:I didn’t want him to be a caricature of what an ex-gay person is,” McNaught says. “It would have been easy to have him constantly spouting Biblical quotes, but I wanted him to be a sympathetic character who is on a journey. There are people out there who are really struggling and claim to be ex-gay because it may be the only way out of the pain they’re feeling.”
Nicely put.
Amazon.com has nice things to say about the book.
Perhaps the author might realize that O’Shea is typically not a Lutheran type name. Carlson or Guttmacher, yes. Something clearly Irish, no.
I really wish people would start digging into Stephen Bennett and Alan Chambers pasts. Not to mention their finances.
I personally believe they’re exploiting their thin histories for a lot of money. Exodus may not pay Alan a whole lot to run the place but it does give him standing to charge a lot to churches in speaking fees.
Not to mention:
Lobbying fees for groups like CWFA.
Book fees for writing forwards/testimonies.
Media fees for appearing on Bill O’Reilly (Stephen Bennett).
The list goes on and on as to how much these “men of God” make by exploiting myths and the lives of happy, well adjusted homosexuals.
Non-profits are supposed to be fairly transparent on their expenses, it would be good research to figure out just how
