Exgay leaders Alan Chambers and Randy Thomas spent the week in Washington celebrating with a who’s who of the religious right.
Thomas met, saw, or had his picture taken with:
Coral Ridge Ministries leader D. James Kennedy
FMA co-sponsor Rep. Marilyn Musgrave ("wise and brave woman")
Focus on the Family’s Bill Maier
FRC’s Genevieve Wood
Janet Parshall, former FRC spokeswoman and radio show host
Jay Sekulow of Pat Robertson’s American Center for Law and Justice
John Ashcroft ("who is hilarious")
Karl Rove
Stu Epperson of Salem Radio Network
TBN’s Jan Crouch
Traditional Values Coalition’s Andrea Lafferty
and many other hard-line conservatives.
Thomas reserves a separate page for a picture of Focus on the Family’s James Dobson and mention of his and Chambers’ attendance at the Family Research Council party at the city’s poshest hotel, the Willard, across the street from the White House.

I looked but sadly could not find pics of Jan Crouch much to my disappointment.
oh and lets not forget Ken Hutcherson who recently threw his hat into the gay marriage fray without anyone noticing his total lack of qualifications.
I wrote earlier about this, but for some reason I could not get it to post. Now it is gone. Anyway, I also noticed Radny’s pleasure in meeting some of these people. He really seems to look up to these politicians/leaders.
However, it really confuses me. Some of the people Randy speaks of with such admiration have compared committed gay relationships to bestiality. Others have called gays evil and have called them pedophiles. Disagreeing with homosexuality is one thing, but words like this surely are over the top, and it really surprises me that Randy looks up to these guys in spite of their over the top rhetoric. Somewhere along the way, some people have lost site of “Christian Community” and have left it up to themselves to define who is included. I can’t just see anything redeemingly Christian of someone that refers to gay people as the same as those participating in bestiality.
On a side note, many of the gay rights Randy publicly speaks against do not define gay in any way. Adoption bans such as the one in Florida say that gay people cannot adopt. It does not distinguish between actively gay and celibate gays. It seems ironic, therefore, that Randy is arguing to have adoption rights removed from most of his Exodus members (I would assume most have not experienced complete change), and if Randy himself does still experience SSA (many ex-gay leaders call this a life long battle), the he would be arguing against his own right to adopt.
Oh I meant to add- many of these people Randy now looks up to would have called him evil, and would have had nothing to do with him just a few years earlier.
You have to read this article by Chuck Muth a significant Republican activist about his communication with ex-gay James Hartline (the nut-job that pressured the Bishop of San Diego to not allow a funeral for a local gay bar owner).
