XGW reader David B. points out ex-gay minister Matthew C. Manning.
Mr. Manning’s web site states that he has miraculously received and maintained an HIV-negative diagnosis after suffering from full-blown AIDS. A story at CBN goes further, asserting that Mr. Manning was cured through prayer alone — even though Manning declined to provide documentation from his military doctors or an independent review of his complete medical records.
Mr. Manning’s testimony is primarily one of low self-esteem driving him to participate in casual and impersonal sexual activity. He inaccurately describes this as a homosexual lifestyle.
To his credit, Manning’s web site does not seem to espouse discrimination. His association with Pat Robertson, however, exposes him to considerable public skepticism.

Matthew C. Manning has had over 20 independent medical professionals examine his personal medical record from the United States Coast Guard. All of the medical professionals have concluded that there is medical proof that Matthew was diagnoised with HIV on January 18, 1990 and his Immune System began failing in late 1993, when Matthew developed an opertunistic infection, (pneusitic pneumonia) which places him in the fully AIDS catogory.
Pastor Matthew has been tested for HIV for the last 9 years with an HIV negative result coming back on all tests. Pastor Matthew his wife Christa of five years, and his 18 month old son all test HIV negative. Pastor Manning and his wife have unprotected sex and have always had unprotected sex, due the fact that he is HIV negative. Pastor Matthew does not release his medical records to the public, due to the personal and private nature of the information contained therein. However, when speaking in front of large meetings, he provides the documentation via powerpoint presentation. Furthermore, his medical records can be exmained here at our offices by setting up an appoitment.
To state that he has no proof is an out right lie, and will not be tolorated by our ministry. To state your opinion is one thing, however to make facts that are completly untrue is another. If this slander and defamation of Matthew Manning’s character by your website continues without factual basis, law suites may arise against your organization. Your opinion is one thing, stating untrue facts is another and will be delt with in a court of law if necessary.

I never stated that Manning or LHWE had no proof. I said the ministry declined to provide conclusive medical documentation at reasonable cost.
LHWE requires individuals wishing to glimpse at the medical evidence to either
travel to LHWE’s offices in northern California,
attend one of LHWE’s meetings to watch a PowerPoint presentation, or
purchase a video currently under development.
XGW does not believe Manning should hand out his complete medical history to the public. Just these brief, relevant items will do:
a record of original Western Blot test diagnoses confirming infection,
copies of medical reports diagnosing Manning with full-blown AIDS, and
copies of recent Western Blot tests confirming the absence of HIV
Providing this information for free on the LHWE web site, or at nominal charge via mail to interested parties, would preserve Manning’s medical privacy and greatly improve his credibility among audiences seeking scientific substantiation to an inspiring story.
