In June, I analyzed the principles espoused by the ex-gay movement during Ex-Gay Lobby Days.
This week, PFOX executive director Regina Griggs changed her description of the principles. She titles them: Ex-Gay Declaration of Independence.
Independence from what, Griggs does not say. The “awareness” and “policy neutrality” principles clearly spell out an ongoing dependence upon discriminatory policies in church, government, schools, media, and the often-limp punishment of violent criminals when their victims happen to be gay. And the organizations that signed the principles express ongoing alignment with conservative Christian political groups: Concerned Women for America, Coral Ridge Ministries, the Family Research Council, and Focus on the Family, among others.
