An outdoor advertising firm confirmed that it refused to post exgay activist Stephen Bennett’s billboard.
The ad, sponsored by the New York Christian Coalition, would have appeared on a state highway in New Paltz, N.Y., just north of New York City. According to the Daily Freeman of nearby Kingston, the ad company explained that it steers clear of hot-button issues.
However, Ed Evans, general manager of Clear Channel Outdoor, said that his company would have no problem with the proposed advertisement as long as it could review the content.
