I see that NOM is using supposed ex gay Doug Mainwaring to speak for all gay people that they don’t deserve and don’t need to redefine marriage to be happily married to the opposite sex. What is the common mantra?
” Gays have every right to marry the opposite sex just like everybody else.”
It’s arrogant, frustrating, makes you want to hit something anger inducing, to keep hearing hetero people tell gay people they can change. As if it’s as easy as that, like changing one’s coat. Never mind how many Christians are so averse to following the commandment of treating another as they’d be treated by putting themselves in the skin of someone gay and how impossible it would be for THEM to change from hetero to gay.
If it takes all this socio/political threat, a legacy of inducing gay people to pass with anything from violence to abandonment, pointing to such ex gays is tainted result. It’s illegitimate.
The ethics required on that question, aren’t even admitted.
Men like Doug Mainwaring, are traitors and cowards.
Mores the point, the issue isn’t just about the gender one is married to.
Heteros can marry a person that shares their sexual orientation. It’s only right, appropriate and fair that a gay person have the right to marry someone of THEIR sexual orientation.
Mixed orientation marriages rarely are enduring or happy ones.
It forces unsuspecting straight people to be duped into believing they can change their gay spouse.
And the very people who say gay people can marry the opposite sex, have nothing to say when you suggest THEIR sibling, or child take one for the team.
So done with their smug, two faced and contradictory attitude about marriage equality I really want to shake these people until their heads fall off.
