Today is the International Transgender Day of Remembrance. Take a few moments to remember victims of transphobic violence and think about how you can help make the world a safer and fairer place for all people, whatever their gender identity.
For your contemplation, here’s Trans Europe’s list of 265 trans men and women reported murdered in the past year.
(Hat-tip: @Sally_Rush.)
Thank you for posting this list. It makes for somber reading. It reminds me of the reality that many fellow transsexuals face.
Much love in Christ always and unconditionally; Caryn
It was a moving and very important event that happened in West Hollywood for Transgender Remembrance Day. I try and go every year and there’s always going to be a very personal connection for me.
These are my friends, I love them. This is family having a reunion. One of the most stirring speeches was from Rizi Timane, F-M and a Nigerian immigrant. It was so very difficult to hear the names of the latest victims of violence. The brutality of it, is beyond what you think a human can think of doing.
But wouldn’t have wanted to be anywhere else but to hold the hands, hug and love my transgendered loved ones.
There is much to teach the world yet. So much.
