Someone who appears to be an ex-gay wrote an editorial in the Oshkosh Northwestern in favor of the Wisconsin marriage amendment:
…many people with homosexual attractions, like me, have found real and lasting change; consequently, marriage is not a civil right.
Who is this Mike Levenhagen who signed the letter? Could he finally be an elusive “normal” ex-gay who’s not entrenched ex-gay ministries?
Oh please, that’ll be the day.
Mike Levenhagen is the director of the Reclamation Resource Center, an Exodus member ministry in Oshkosh. Mike of course fails to point out his ex-gay for pay conflict of interest in his editorial.
Hat tip Scott H
Though not Episcopalian, Levenhagen appears to be a disciple of Mario Bergner:
June 7-11 [2004] Mike will be attending training for Redeemed Lives, Alive Again, and Returning Sons at Trinity Episcopal Scool of Ministry in Ambridge, PA. Completion of the week-long training will authorize us to start our own Returning Sons program, with the hope of starting a Redeemed Lives program in the future. (source)
The usual ex-gay truthiness.
Levenhagen runs his medicine show out of a non-denom church.
Do these people not realize that we have Google?
I am assuming someone is writing several LTEs to the Oshkosh newspaper pointing this out. . .
Apparently this person is completely unaware of every court case ruling that marriage is, in fact, a fundamental civil right. Not surprising.
…many people with homosexual attractions, like me, have found real and lasting change; consequently, marriage is not a civil right.
Is it me, or does that sentence make no sense.
So basically, anyone who doesn’t marry the first person they date isn’t entitled to the right to marry, because their attractions have changed.
Why the cynicism? 😉
