The United Methodist clergy in the Rocky Mountains are displeased with what they view as an anti-gay decision made by the church’s judicial body. The judicial decision was one allowing a Virginia pastor to refuse church membership to a gay man. Although lauded by anti-gay activists, it appears to have shocked the leadership of the church.
According to the Rocky Mountain News, the ministers in Colorado, Wyoming and Utah are so displeased that nearly half of the area’s clergy, including its bishop, signed a protest statement and each contributed money to run ads in area newspapers.
